Can I define a variable as a cell?

I want make a variable x=cell(1,2),and each element in the cell x is a matrix.
I don’t find it in the guide.

or can I define 2 matrixs and make it a cell In later calculations?

How about using a multdimensional array? See mcg’s answer at How to change the number of variables based on the iteration number? .
